The Huawei Mate S review\n

Verdict: Spend a short time with the Mate S, as we did in Berlin, and you get the feeling that Huawei has a mostly capable phone on its hands. Spend more time with it and that supposition is confirmed.

Huawei Mate S review: A phone that ticks all the boxes

Verdict: The Huawei Mate S might not be getting all the glitz and glamour attention of the P9, but this phone packs a serious punch, without the price point of some flagship models.

Pros: Performance, Features, Design
Cons: Price, Battery life
Verdict: Huawei has come quite far with its smartphone business, and it looks like they're not stopping any time soon. The Huawei Mate S is marketed to be their highest-end smartphone yet, and at a price point that is similar to many other premium phones, what sets it apart from the rest of the group?

Huawei Mate S review: touch made irrelevant

3.2
Verdict: As far as 2015 flagship releases go, we've seen a great many excellent additions. The Samsung Galaxy S6, the LG G4, the iPhone 6S and Huawei's own P8 have all left a marked impression on the space in one way or another.

Verdict: The success of the company is not only thanks to their flagships devices such as the P8, but also for the more budget-friendly Mate 7 and Ascend G7. With all the buzz around those devices, Huawei continued to on the success by releasing the Mate S, one of the most eagerly anticipated smartphones of...

Huawei Mate S s

Verdict: We recently got some time with the beautiful looking Huawei Mate S so we did an unboxing and hands-on video. Featuring a premium metal build and super thin design at RM2698, the Mate S also features tech specs like a fingerprint sensor and 5.5-inch full HD display.

Huawei Mate S review

Verdict: Given its price – which is a bit less than £400 unlocked, the Mate S is clearly competing in the rung below the phones like the Galaxy S6 and iPhone 6. So what it offers is lots of high end features including the excellent camera and stylish metal casing, for less than premium pricing.

Verdict: On paper, and in the flesh, the Huawei Mate S looks like a real contender in the flagship smartphone stakes. It's a fabulous phone to handle and use from a physical perspective, and it's packed with all the features you could possibly want, plus a few extras to boot.

Huawei Mate S review

3.5
Verdict: The Huawei Mate S is a very promising phone. Its design is beautiful, it's lightweight and it fits perfectly in our hands despite the 5.5in display. The custom Android UI takes some getting used to, but it offers something different to the standard Android experience with the inclusion of a...

Featured Review: Huawei Mate S

Pros: Incredibly strong, thin and well shaped metal build, Excellent screen quality, Lots of software features, Sound output is phenomenal, Lots of options in the camera software, International signal compatibility
Cons: EMUI has huge UI issues, Camera has poor low light performance, Camera software can be slow, confusing, Digitizer needs work, Performance is horrible for the price
Verdict: Some would say that Huawei has become the most important OEM in 2015, not only showing some unbelievable growth in every market it sells devices in, but also because of its partnership with Google on the Nexus 6p and the Android Wear powered Huawei Watch.

Huawei Mate S review: The first Android with '3D touch' has plenty of power

Verdict: A week before Apple announced the 3D Touch-enabled iPhone 6S in September, Huawei did something interesting: It announced an Android phone with a pressure-sensitive screen. That phone was the Huawei Mate S , the company's flagship that held its own - on paper, at least - with every high-end...

Verdict: The 2.5D 5.5" display on the Huawei Mate S fills all of the front face and is slightly raised with contoured edges and a seamless border. The glass is Corning Gorilla Glass 4, which is extremely durable, and through this 1080 x 1920 pixels shine through.

Huawei Mate S Review: Mastering Metal

Verdict: All in all Huawei's Mate S is another solid flagship offering from the international brand though there is one thing that'll keep it from getting adopted by a lot of people: price. In the Philippines, Huawei is pricing the Mate S at Php 31,995 which is considerably more than the bigger Mate 7.

The Huawei Mate S Review

Verdict: As we're coming to the conclusion, I'm left with mixed feelings in regards to the Mate S. In terms of design, this has been by far Huawei's best device to date. The vendor has managed to update or to improve in all aspects of phablet design: aesthetics, ergonomics and build quality.

Precision styled

Verdict: The Huawei Mate S is somewhat of a weird fit in Huawei's current device lineup. It is not the eagerly anticipated successor to the Mate7 (that would be the soon to be announced Mate 8), nor is it part of the Honor family, or bothered with an Ascend moniker.

3.5
Pros: Premium materials, Strong camera feature set, Beautiful design
Verdict: In a nutshell the Huawei Mate S plays itself off as a serious contender in the big-phone space and as such it doesn't come cheap, with prices starting at £469 for the base 32GB model. However aspects like camera quality and battery longevity fall short of the mark.

Huawei Mate S review: Yes mate!

4.5
Pros: Good display, fingerprint scanner and shortcuts, Force Touch, some great software additions
Cons: A little heavy-handed with Android in the UX which leads to some odd looking results
Verdict: Over the past year we've seen the rising tide of Chinese smartphones. As established companies like HTC and Sony Mobile have reported some difficulties, the likes of OnePlus and Xiaomi have stolen headlines.

Huawei Mate S

3.5
Pros: The Huawei Mate S takes sharp photos, it has enough power for everyday tasks and its metal design look and feels great
Cons: It's too expensive, Huawei's custom Android is messy to use and the pressure-sensitive display is a pointless addition that adds nothing to the overall experience
Verdict: Facing off against the giants of Apple and Samsung in the smartphone arena is no easy task. Huawei's usual tactics in this fight has been to make its products a lot more affordable, while still competitive on a technical level. Not so with the Mate S.

Huawei Mate S review

3.5
Verdict: At IFA 2015 in Berlin, Huawei announced its latest smartphone: the Huawei Mate S. It looks gorgeous, and offers some pretty interesting features. We've been using the Huawei Mate S for over a month now, and here are our thoughts, along with its spec, features, pricing and availability.

Huawei Mate S (Unlocked)

Pros: Attractive design. Crisp AMOLED display. Good camera performance. 128GB internal storage and microSD slot. Loud speakers
Cons: Force Touch is mostly just a gimmick. Heavy UI layer. Struggles with high-end gaming. Frustrating button placement
Verdict: The Huawei Mate S is an attractive Android smartphone that looks like something something of a cross between the Apple iPhone 6s , the HTC One M9 , and the Samsung Galaxy S6 . When it comes to performance, the device can mostly hold its own against these flagships, though it occasionally stumbles.

Huawei Mate S review

3.0
Verdict: Ultimately, though, the Huawei Mate S just doesn't do quite enough to stand out from the rest of its £400 competition. Huawei Mate S

3.5
Pros: Great screen, Impressive performance, Sleek design
Cons: Force Touch is a waste, EMUI skin is awful, Dodgy battery life
Verdict: The Mate S is Huawei's latest attempt to replicate its success in China in Europe and the USA. It's a sleek, well-built smartphone with a great screen and a fantastic fingerprint scanner, but its needless extra features and mediocre battery life stop it from being a complete success.

Huawei Mate S review

3.0
Pros: Sleek design, colourful display, speedy fingerprint sensor, latest version of Android
Cons: Underwhelming price-to-performance ratio, Emotion UI 3.1 actively makes Android worse, fallible build quality
Verdict: Good security tools and an up-to-date OS clash with middling performance and a stifling custom skin, resulting in a passable handset that's just a bit too pricey for what it does.
