Sony A7S II review

5.0
Pros: Superb video quality, Great in low light conditions, Metal-bodied toughness
Cons: It's really expensive
Verdict: The A7S II is certainly more of a specialist's camera than its sibling the A7R II. I think the latter is a better all-round performer and a superior buy for the more general shooter, but if you're looking for a compact system camera that offers class-leading low light performance and...

Sony Alpha A7S Mark II Full Review

4.5
Pros: Improved handling and design, Excellent image quality, Excellent ISO range, 4K video can be recorded internally, MicroUSB charging / power, 5-axis image stabilisation, Wi-Fi and NFC, Sony PlayMemories Apps, Dual-axis electronic level
Cons: 12 megapixels may not be enough for stills photographers, Camera video fussy about memory cards, Shorter battery life than previous model, Focus struggled in low-light at times
Verdict: At the "core" of the Sony Alpha A7S Mark II is the same full-frame 12 megapixel CMOS sensor from the A7S, which offers an extended ISO range of ISO50 up to ISO409,600 (Native ISO100 to ISO102,400).

Sony ILCE-7SM2 a7S II

4.4
Verdict: We didn't get to review the original Sony ILCE-7S (α7S) camera, which was released in April 2014 so it's nice to receive its successor, the α7S Mark II, which was announced on 11 September 2015. The updated camera improves on its predecessor in several important ways.

Sony Alpha A7s Mark II review

4.0
Pros: Great quality 4k video. Clean up to 6400 ISO and still good at 25600 ISO, Capable of shooting in extremely low light at up to 409600 ISO, Very good 1080p options including APSC crop and 120p slow motion, S-Log 2 and 3 for subsequent grading.
Cons: Contrast-based AF not great at tracking moving subjects, No APSC / Super-35 crop option for 4k video, Built-in IS only provided one or two stops in my tests, Small dials and buttons.
Verdict: Sony's Alpha A7s Mark II is a full-frame mirrorless camera that's optimized for 4k video, particularly in very low light. Sony's essentially taken the 12 Megapixel sensor of the original A7s Mark I and slotted it into the body of the A7r Mark II.

Sony Alpha A7S II

4.0
Pros: Great low-light performance, Excellent for video, Much-improved ergonomics
Cons: Limited detail capture among full-frame cameras, Unimpressive burst performance
Verdict: The Sony Alpha A7S II is a full-frame camera with a difference. Where its brother the A7R II uses a 42-megapixel sensor for massive amounts of detail, this camera pares the resolution all the way down to 12 megapixels to radically improve low-light performance.

Sony A7S II review

Verdict: After the introduction of the Sony Alpha 7 II and Sony Alpha 7R II it was only a matter of time before Sony introduced the update to the Alpha 7S, its 12Mp, low light and video-centric model which has become popular in the film and television industry.

Pros: Super-high ISO ISO 409,600 maximum, Internal 4K video recording, AF system good in low light
Cons: Video record button not ideally placed, Expensive and specialist, 8-bit rather than 10 or 12-bit video

Sony A7S II

5.0
Pros: Comfortable and surprisingly compact camera body; Improved low light performance; Built-in image stabilization; Wide range of usable ISOs; More sophisticated autofocus performance; Excellent video capabilities
Cons: Relatively low resolution; Mediocre continuous shooting performance; No built-in flash; No losslessly compressed RAW option
Verdict: The Sony A7S II takes the A7S to the next level. The redesigned camera body, improved autofocus, and bevy of new features make the A7S II a very capable full-frame mirrorless camera no matter the lighting conditions.

Sony Alpha 7S II

4.0
Pros: Full-frame 4K video recording. Incredible high ISO image quality. 5fps burst shooting. In-body image stabilization. Hinged rear display. Sharp EVF. Dust- and moisture-resistant design
Cons: Expensive. 12-megapixel resolution can be limiting. Omits PC sync socket. Overly sensitive eye sensor. No built-in flash
Verdict: Sony continues to take a three-camera approach with its second-generation full-frame mirrorless system. At one end of the spectrum sits the high-resolution, 42-megapixel Alpha 7R II , and at the other is the 12-megapixel Alpha 7S II ($2999.99, body only).

Sony Alpha 7S II Review

5.0
Verdict: When Sony launched the Alpha 7 and Alpha 7R two years ago, the manufacturer was looking to target two different types of photographer. While the Alpha 7 was out to appeal to enthusiasts looking for a full-frame camera with an ‘all-round' level of performance, the Alpha 7R was aimed at landscape and...

Great Camera

5.0
Verdict: This camera is everything advertised and so much more. While there are other cameras out there that shoot "full frame", this one actually shoots larger than full-frame as it does not crop the imager - it shoots 4K in the equivalent of transverse-plane motion picture film, which is larger than what...

Canon shooter than canon give up this Sony gem.

5.0
Verdict: I switched to Canon after shooting Sony for almost 10 years. Today I have both the A7SII and the Canon 1DXII. Why both Frankly, I think it's PATHETIC that I can't have stabilization for the Canon 35 1.4 shooting on the 1DXii.

An available light photographer's first choice.

5.0
Pros: Easy To Use, Excellent In Low Light, Good Sized Screen, Nice Features and Settings
Cons: Bad Battery Life, Expensive, Resolution
Verdict: This is an expensive product but if you want a full-frame mirrorless that handles low light situations well, this is it. If focuses extraordinarily well in almost no light, better than anything else I have used for sure.

Fantastic For Video

5.0
Pros: Easy to use, Compact, Build quality, Screen size
Cons: Battery life
Verdict: Amazing camera for video! If you are looking for photography look at the A7II or the A7RII. Though this camera will still take awesome stills if you are just at a family event or for some Behind the Scenes photos. Internal 4K and Slog3 is fantastic!

5.0
Verdict: I have owned a A7s for 18 months and love it. While I do take a lot of photographs my main interest is video. I live and travel on a sailboat and spend time in remote locations. I needed a new second camera and decided to stay with Sony. I have only used it a few days, but so far it's great.

Best in class

5.0
Pros: Now with Internal 4K, LUTs and IBIS! Low light monster Gorgeous video and photo Small and light package Adapt lenses from almost any system ever
Cons: Internal recording codec could be better Menus still mostly suck Limited system lenses 12MP limits post-processing options
Verdict: I don't know that a more capable videography/photography device exists in this size. The a7S is back with everything the first generation was missing (I had one). This is the ultimate low-light shooter for video and photography.

Verdict: Really the only choice for poor/low light Video or shooting stills in the dark. Very clean at ISO 6400+ New 1080P120 is exceptionally even with internal codec. Very smooth and detailed. It can keep up with most action. Also good for slow motion that I do not use.
