Verdict: Late last year I got the opportunity to head out to the Sydney Motorsport park and spend the day with the Samsung Gear 360 camera, oh and go drifting! The 360-degree camera space is still fairly limited with only a few real entrants currently available in the Australian market.

Samsung Gear 360 review: Spherical eye

Verdict: Close to the size of a billiard ball, and not far off from a grenade, the Samsung Gear 360 is meant to be versatile and explosive like those two objects, only in imaging terms. The South Korean company's 360-degree content debut is a fine effort, so long as you have the tools required to use it.

Samsung Gear 360 review

3.0
Pros: Tough build, but still looks slick, Decent battery life, Easy pairing and reconnection
Cons: Fussy compatibility, A bit too large for a pocket, Desktop software is Windows only
Verdict: There's no real contest here: the Gear 360 beats the LG 360 Cam in features, performance and build quality. Just remember you're paying a £150 premium for that bump in quality. It's also a premium that's difficult to justify, given the tech troubles I had throughout testing and the lack of decent...

Samsung Gear 360

3.0
Pros: Best-in-class 360-degree video. Attractive price point. Compact design. Protected from dust and splashes. Solid battery life
Cons: Difficult to edit video. No editing support on OS X or iOS. Only works with specific Android handsets. Lens can fog in some circumstances. Overheats when transferring longer clips to phone. Slightly hollow audio. No external mic support. Doesn't shoot in 24p
Verdict: It looks like 2016 is the year in which 360-degree video cameras hit big. With more 4K models now available-that's the minimum amount of pixels that you'll want in a camera that stretches footage for spherical viewing-you may be tempted to jump into the fray and add one to your kit.

Verdict: Let's get one thing clear before I sum up: the Samsung Gear 360 isn't aimed at people like me. It's aimed at go-getters, adventure seekers, and other exciting types who actually do things worth documenting.

Review: Samsung Gear 360

2.5
Verdict: We'll all be spending a lot more time with VR headsets bolted to our faces if Oculus, HTC and Google Cardboard get their way - but only once there's anything to actually watch on them.

Samsung's Gear 360 is the VR video camera for the masses

Verdict: Samsung's Gear 360 gets all the basics right for a consumer 360 camera. It's small, easy to use (for capturing and editing), the video quality is good (for a first-generation model) and it's affordably priced at $349.99.

Samsung Gear 360 review: a camera that satisfies?

3.5
Pros: Very good image quality, Captures the atmosphere of an environment
Cons: Parts of images can look awkward, Unwieldy to transport, Only compatible with a few Samsung smartphones

Samsung Gear 360 Review\n

Pros: Excellent user experience, Every feature you could hope for, Good quality of photos and video, Seamless connection process
Cons: Unique design isn't easily pocketable, Only works with Samsung's phones, Disappointing microphone, Stitch lines are very apparent
Verdict: Samsung's Gear 360 is the 360-degree camera we've all been waiting for. It stands out. It has the power of one of the world's biggest tech companies behind it... and it's a somewhat frustrating product. The software experience is the best we've used in this class of camera, bar none.

A great way of getting into 360 photography

4.0
Verdict: I purchased this mainly for photography and it doesn't disappoint, Photos are crisp with decent shots indoors even in relative low light. Build quality is excellent, the unit feels solid and all the buttons feel good, battery life is great but I only use it for photos.

Great Device, Buggy Software

5.0
Verdict: The Gear 360 is a fabulous little device that is very portable and easy to use. This is the first version of the device and in April of 2017 there was a price drop to around $250, making it even more affordable, because a newer version is now on the market. The images are of high quality.

OK little camera crap software support

5.0
Verdict: I would have given the camera 4 or 5 stars but I took 2 stars off because of Samsung. You must have a newer samsung phone to run this cameras app. Now the camera will function just fine with out the apps but you lose some functionality and some on the fly functionality with out the gear 360...

Great camera with a few ways it could be improved.

5.0
Verdict: I have been using the Galaxy Gear 360 about a month through Samsung insider program. I have used with a Note 7, Galaxy S7 edge and it work wonderfully! What Like the best is the how much better of a job it does taking a 360 image, when compared using surround shot or the google camera application.

4.2
Verdict: The Gear 360 is a great camera for outdoor types or businesses that could benefit from promoting their wares with 360-degree photos or videos. But you'll need to spend extra for a microSD card and have a recent Samsung Galaxy smartphone to use the companion app.
